February - NeuroPharm

February Community Service Hours: 2

Total Spring Community Service Hours: 7

I think its safe to say that NeuroPharmacology will be the most interesting module this semester! I can see that this module has connected to everyday life in several ways. For instance, think about your morning cup of coffee--caffeine, a neuroactive substance, it enhances alertness by interacting with adenosine receptors in the brain. On a more personal level, if you've ever taken medication for stress, anxiety, or sleep, you've experienced the practical implications of neuropharmacology. Knowing how these drugs work helps individuals make informed decisions about their health. Additionally, discussions about mental health and well-being often involve concepts from neuropharmacology, contributing to a broader awareness of the biological factors influencing our emotions and behaviors. So, whether it's considering the impact of a cup of coffee or reflecting on the choice we make regarding medication, neuropharmacology subtly shapes our daily experiences and decision processes.
